My watch was working perfectly fine until I unpaired from my old phone and tried to pair with my newer iPhone 12pro max. It’s stuck updating constantly my phone says it’s updated to watchOS 6.2.8 however it’s supposed to be updating to watchOS 8.7.1 . My watch is listed as connected to my phone but it’s still behaving as if it’s updating this has been going on a full week

After probably 30 tries I was able to make my Apple Watch complete the install. What happened is weird: the download was able to complete but it is not installing but my watch is back on with the old update. Im not sure what happened.
Same issue the Apple Store told us there is nothing to do but buy a new watch.
we are not trying to update to OS9. We are forced to upgraded to 8.7.1 when setting it up on a different device and it is not able to update.
I have the exact same issue. Any solutions?
Thank you! You’re absolutely right they told me the same thing. Really sucks to have a watch performing fine one minute and update causes it to malfunction and it’s nothing you do buy another watch
Yep same insane issue here a perfectly working watch.. I’ve tried like 20 times to install the update —
I was able to get the download to finish than my watch was back on, but the install doesn’t work but my watch paired with my new phone.
