Screen on iMac streaked and jumping and impossible to read

Is this a hardware issue or is there a programming fix? Everything I'm reading relates to a MacBook, not an iMac.

Thanks - got it!

Unfortunately, yes, this is a hardware issue.

If your Mac model is on this list, Obtaining service for your Apple product after an expired warranty - Apple Support, it most likely cannot be repaired, unfortunately. It would be best to look for a new Mac: Mac - Apple.

If it is not on the vintage and obsolete list, you can contact Apple here: Get Support.

I'm attaching a photo, but it really doesn't show that the bottom two thirds of the screen is flashing and jumping - which the photo freezes. The three options at the bottom of the screen, Sleep, Restart and Shut Down, hop up and down. Thanks for trying to solve this question.

I don't see a photo attached, unfortunately.
