Notes app search function broken

The Notes app that comes with Mac quite often when I search for something pressing CMD+F, it finds a bunch of random words/strings that aren't what I was searching for. Not sure how to replicate the issue - sometimes it does it, other times it doesn't.

Honestly, it's been like this for a few versions of MacOS now (12 months+), I just figured given it's a pretty bad bug someone would find/report/fix, but given its been so long I thought I would raise an issue. Is this a bug, anyone else with the issue, and any workarounds?

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 12.5

Interesting.

Just before composing this reply below, used the letters " Tro" and instantly and refer to below results

>>> Trouble Shooting  <<<

1 - Restart in Safe Mode. This will perform a Disk Repair, clear cache files and only load Apple Software, extensions and fonts. The boot up will be slow and can take some time - Normal.

2 - Does the issue present in this mode ?

3 - Sometimes a Safe Boot followed by a Normal Boot will just put things right.

4 - If not - there could be something in the main User Account playing up. To further isolate this - Set up users, guests, and groups on Mac. Then log out of the Main User account and log into the dummy account and test again if the issue persists.

5 - If the issue is present in the dummy account - then, this appears to be a System Wide issue on the computer.

6 - Understand, we are all working Remotely from all around the world.

Therefore, we do not have the On-Hands experience the User ( you ) has with this computer.

The next best thing for us to having a semi - actual On-Hand experience on this computer is to follow the steps below

Download the Application Etrecheck directly from the Developer.

The application is free or paid from added features.

It will take a Snap Shot -  both the hardware and software.

The Report will Not Reveal Any Personal Information.

Post back the Full Report - copy and paste - using the Additional Text Icon ( 3rd Icon to last )

We can have a look at the report for possible issues and may have possible suggestions to resolve the issues.

Well, as mentioned, it's not something I can replicate all the time. It sometimes does it, sometimes doesn't. For example, I just CMF+F'd the word "understand" in a single note and it highlighted "coffee you" and "ts specifi" followed by four or so actual words that are "understand".

Also, not something I mentioned, but I use this note book daily, and probably use CMD+F about 15 times a day in that notebook to copy paste some standard email responses, so perhaps it is something you see with more use?

Do you have any suggestions on things I could check? specifically to my installation (which should be standard), or perhaps even the underlying file for any types of corruptions?

Rebooting in safe mode then in regular mode worked (for now), though to be honest, a regular reboot might have been enough. I'm still gonna say its a bug though. Rebooting your machine to get a basic text search to fix itself can hardly be classed as expected behavior.

The Safe Mode is one of the oldest Tricks ( Methods ) to help determine if some Third Party Software is playing up.

Safe Mode Eliminates Third Party Software from Loading and also Clears System cache files which will be recreated by the System as Needed

Suggest moving down the previous list of Trouble Shooting suggestion and report back on reaching a point where ihis issue disappears totally or Run the Etrecheck Application and post back the Full Report
