My Face ID wasn’t working after my update, but when I go to recreate it, it just says “reposition face” and will not go any further

Face ID is not working - won’t let me re-do my Face ID, just says ‘reposition face’ but won’t recognise it or go any further.

iPhone 13, iOS 16
