*M1 Macbook Pro 16" purchased late 2021
Since there is no dedicated mic input for an external microphone (just headphone jack,) how does one hook in a 1/4" phone plug from a wireless external microphone transmitter (direct, not first going through a mixer?)
If it's through one of the USB-C ports, what adapters would be needed?

You'd better get USB-A connector microphone with USB-C to USB-A adapter which should works.
Thanks, but we already have a specific microphone we need to use (Samson wireless headset) and it comes with a 1/8" mini-plug coming out of the transmitter to a standard 1/4" plug to go into a mixer channel, etc. However, we're trying to input the sound directly into the Macbook, sans mixer. We ordered a 1/4" to USB-C adapter, which we hope will make the basic connection, but then unsure where we will be able to assign that USB-C input as an external microphone.
So some experimentation for us...unless someone here has already gone through these steps, thanks
