power supply

I have a perhaps obvious question - but not for me... When I stream on my mac, the battery goes down (cause of my hard working software - I know) but why can I not continue streaming on the power supply only, even if the battery is low? If the battery has charged like 65% and more it works most of the times, but if lower, the battery goes down on red and switches into save mode and shuts down. Is it possible to somewhere set the computer to only use power supply and where do I do it in that case?

As I understand it, you can use your Mac with particularly power-demanding software such as inDesign and Photoshop, but streaming specifically causes it to lose power so quickly its power supply can't keep up.

Of course that's not normal and I don't have a quick solution for you. Review the following two Apple Support documents if you haven't already:

If your Mac battery status is “Not Charging” - Apple Support

If your Mac battery won’t charge - Apple Support

The latter emphasizes the need to use the power adapter that came with your Mac, so be sure to do that: Identify your Mac power adapter - Apple Support. Also, try a different USB-C cable if your Mac uses one of them.

If you don't get anywhere you should make an appointment to have your Mac, its power adapter and cable evaluated by Apple, because one or more of them isn't working the way it should. Start here: Get Support.

I don't understand something. Is your Mac not charging when you plug it in? The power adapter should supply enough power for all the Mac's needs, even while it is doing something particularly demanding.

Is it possible to somewhere set the computer to only use power supply ...

... and not the battery? The answer to that question is no, but it should never be required.

Yes exactly - when I stream or do anything that takes a lot of power from the battery I plug in the power supply in order to not experience the mac shutting down and with ordinary software like inDesign, Photoshop etc. this is completely fine. But when I stream and using my power supply, the battery indication drops very quickly and when it reaches the end of battery capacity I can not continue streaming cause even if I have the power supply plugged in, the mac needs some amount of battery to work. This is so frustrating since the power supply should be sufficient - right?
