Hi I was wondering why my AirPods are making a static noise and they started doing this after I updated my phone

I can't correlate whether mine started making the static noise at the same time after an iOS update, but there does seem to be a fundamental problem with AirPods and feedback noise (when in ANC or transparency mode). I can't tell if you have AirPods Pro (1st or 2nd gen?) but Apple responded with their Service Program for units manufactured prior to Oct 2020. That said, mine were made in ~Jan 2021 and Apple told me that although mine exhibit the same issue as the recall, they're not covered.

If your AirPods are under warranty I'd open up a case ASAP and see what they can do for you. If not, keep engaging and hopefully they can resolve the problem for you...
