Windows 10 and VMware Workstation Player

I am trying to download Windows 10 onto the MacBook Air 2022. I downloaded VMware Workstation Player(freeware) but when I double click on it it says that I do not have an application to use to open the program and install. How can I get around this?

If you are using an Apple Silicon computer you can not run Windows 10. You can install Parallels and then sign up for the Microsoft Insider Program to install Windows ARM. I would not use this setup of a pre-release version of Windows in anything but a test environment.
