black screen

my phone is on but the screen is black. everytime i restart my phone, it shows me my lock screen then it goes black. i know the phone is on because i can still answer calls and what not, i just cant see anything on the screen. i’ve been caught in the rain twice with my phone and both times i’ve used a paper towel to dry my phone but i dont know if this has anything to do with the issue.

"If your screen is black or frozen

Follow the steps for your device.

On your iPhone 8 or later, including iPhone SE (2nd and 3rd generation)

Press and quickly release the volume up button.
Press and quickly release the volume down button.
Press and hold the side button until you see the Apple logo.
If your phone doesn't turn on, follow these steps to check your hardware and charge your phone. You might need to charge for up to an hour."
