Is private relay enabled by default on MacOS 12.6?

I've read that private relay can affect how Chrome and Firefox sites load. With the recent OS update to 12.6, more and more employees at my company are having issues with Chrome access even after the browser update - is private relay turned on by default in the new OS?

Safari Can't Connect to iCloud Private Relay Hey everyone, I know that this topic has already been discussed here but the fix doesn't seem to work for me. I've been using Private Relay for a long time now and there has never been a problem with Safari on Mac. For the last couple of days I can't connect to any websites anymore when Private Relay is turned on. I restarted Safari but to no effect. Only turning off Private Relay helps. I'm on the latest MacOS version. Thanks for your help.

Safari Private Relay Issue Device: MacBook Air M1 on Sonoma 14.2 Issue: Having "Hide IP address from trackers and websites" (pic 2) selected in Safari settings under privacy, the privacy report on the Safari toolbar (pic 1) says that "Your IP address is not being hidden from websites you visit." Also, the Private Relay settings under System Settings report that the relay is turned off for Safari, even though it isn't true. By pressing "Turn On for Safari" button, "Hide IP address from trackers and websites" changes to "Hide IP address from trackers only" (pic 3) under Safari privacy settings. Please see attached screenshots for better understanding. Steps taken: Basic troubleshooting like toggling the buttons on and off, and rebooting the MacBook didn't help. Picture 1. Picture 2.
