iPhone loses network internet connection until restart

iPhone on iOS 15.7 is losing internet connection.

Switching between two mobile networks and WiFi does not resolve it. Switching airplane mode on then off doesn’t make any change either.

Almost all apps show an error on launch “Network is unavailable” or similar.

There is just one app that still works. I believe it can get a IP connection only. DNS resolution is not working, which is a problem from the iPhone DNS service. Because even manually setting DNS server on WiFi network does not resolve it.

The only resolution seems to be to restart the phone.

Is this a known bug with the iOS software?

Hi andrewfromrose

Seems wi-fi and internet connectivity issues can stem from a variety of sources, so you might need to try troubleshooting:

Thank you, I might need more help with this. It is definitely DNS related on the device.

I can confirm from app privacy report that the only apps working use direct IP addressing for communication.

Perhaps having some old apps remain that had set up VPN profiles for “connect on demand” in the past could cause issues?

I will seek further help from Apple support.
