How do I sort an album of imported photos by filename in Photos?
Problem:
- I have hundreds of photos I'm importing from various sources that I would like to arrange in an album. These photos have sequential filenames, which I would like to use as the album's sort order - not date.
- When I import the photos to Photos, the import happens in seemingly random order.
- When I create an album from these photos, they seem to be reordered automatically by date, though I never explicitly set a sort option.
- Even though it says in Apple documentation that when a "title" is not set that the filename will be used instead, and when enabling viewing of the "title" metadata shows the filename beneath each photo, "sort > keep sorted by title" does not sort the files by filename... it does nothing whatsoever.
Attempted Solutions:
- No, I do not have access to an archaic version of iPhoto nor am I running Photos 4.0 with Apple Script capabilities. My current version is Photos 7.0.
- Photo Exifer is no longer an option to batch update photo titles to their respective filenames, as Photo Exifer has removed its Photo Library editing capabilities in one of its more recent updates (even though this feature is still advertised on their website).
Does anyone have a solution for me? Perhaps any third party software that is able to batch update filenames to titles within the Photo Library? Or some specific way to import and add photos to an album that preservers some semblance of custom ordering? The Photos app has been a constant source of frustration for me, and may be the last straw in my longstanding relationship with Apple products...
