Authentication Error when trying to connect my iCloud account to Spark macOS client.

Dear all,

I am having problems following the procedure indicated on the Spark documentation to connect the iCloud account to the Spark macOS client.

The steps I performed are the following:

  1. Click "add account" on Spark and select "iCloud."
  2. Open my AppleID (which mail has the gmail.com domain).
  3. Generate the "App-specific password."
  4. Go back to Spark: add my @icloud.com account and copy the just generated "App-specific password."

However, all I get is the error: "Unable to authenticate with the current session's credentials. Make sure to use the App-specific password."

What should I do? I tried different combinations, as:

  • generate the password and then start the "add account" procedure in Spark
  • generate the password and then restart Spark
  • remove and regenerate the passwords on the fly

Nothing seems to work.

When I enter the AppleID "Personal Information," and I look at "Reachable at," my two mails (gmail and icloud) are both present.

I really do not understand what can be wrong.

Thank you in advance for your help!

Best,

Andrea

Hi Andrea,

For help with Spark, you will want to reach out to their support for assistance. We'll place the link below should you need it. We don't have the information for Spark to be able to support it.

But we would like to make one suggestion we didn't see mentioned. Instead of copying the password, try typing it in. Sometimes passwords don't like copy and paste.

Take care!
