Is ##002 a real code or a trick?

My wife found a post the said entering ##002# into our iphones allows us to stop and prevent tracking. Lots of conflicting information about this out there. Does anyone know what the real deal is? Any help would be appreciated.

At best all it does is cancel call forwarding.
