How do I enter a "line feed" (i.e. old shool - Carriage Reture) without sending the text message. When I press the Return key it automatically sends the text message. I just want to enter a line feed to make the text more readable.
If using an external keyboard with the Messages App, this isn’t possible; tapping the keyboard’s Return key will immediately send your message.
When using the on-screen keyboard, you’ll see that there is an entirely separate key for sending your message; here the on-screen Return key creates a new-line.

This is expected behavior, the Return key will send the message. If you want to instead insert a line feed, you will need to press "Option + Return".
