Trying to set up new watch with iPhone 12. I’ve been unable to complete the set-up process. During set up it tells me to update the watch. It unpairs me. I skip the update and continue with setup, and it unpairs me after I confirm which wrist I want to wear it on. The phone has the latest software (15.7) installed. The watch I bought new today.

I have mine on auto update, but it shows I am updated on 15.7. Below that it tells me that 16 is available, but it provides no way to download it. Please tell me how to do this.
Turn off auto update then go to settings/general/software update and scroll down to the bottom of the page and tap on the ios16 entry.
