My iTunes is still asking for my old phone number that I no longer use and because of this I can’t update any apps or re-download previous apps how can I fix this issue

That's strange.
Looks like your old phone number is still 'known' to Apple

The trusted number is the one am currently using but it’s still sending the verification code to the old number
In fact it’s even using the old password as well even tho my Apple ID and password has been changed
So it’s quite hard to access it because regardless of what I do it’s still sending the code to my old number that’s also not a US number
