I bought a used iPhone and it's locked to the original owner.

I bought an iPhone 12 pro max from a guy who recently worked in a mobile store, but he's no longer there and the phone is stuck on iPhone Locked to Owner. I believe he is incarcerated, I'm out of $400.00. If I can't get my money back, Apple ID and Password removed, can I have Apple Support to find the original owner, inform them that I have the phone, see if I can either pay them to remove their info or return it.

No one has that information.

Apple values your privacy and has safeguards in place to ensure that no one can access the device.

You will need to reach out to the owner because it is the owner’s responsibility to properly erase the device before selling it.

Until then, it is locked. 🔐
