Use cables to transfer data from old Mac to new Mac

You can also connect them to the same wired or wireless network to transfer the data. Is there an advantage to using an Ethernet cable rather than the wireless connection?

I'm looking at migrating from an old Macbook Air to a new one. If using a cable is good, I could connect the old laptop to the router over an Ethernet cable. But I'd have to use wifi on the new laptop.

Does that sound ok, or should I just use wireless only?
