All illustrations in email messages are now blank with a small blue box and white question mark in their center. Therefore most messages are illegible . How do I get the illustrations back?

Mail issues in macOS Monterey.
Open mail app select Mail>Preferences>Privacy disable all and compare your results:
“Protect Mail Activity” /
“Hide IP address” /
“Block all remote content”
