How do you turn off Siri Knowledge for Kids' iPad?

Someone asked the above question here and I never saw a good solution. Here is what I found out:

THE PROBLEM -

When you ENABLE Screen Time parental controls, you will *likely* want to disable "siri & knowledge" under screen time. The problem is that even if you disable "siri & knowledge" under screen time, YOU MUST adjust the Siri & Search settings (not under screen time), or else your kids will still be able to access their spotlight search and be able to search the web. It gets even more frustrating because you cannot make any changes to Siri & Search setting (not under screen time), because the feature is disabled through screen time.

Anyways... here is the solution.

THE SOLUTION -

You need to access "Siri & Search" from General Settings... It looks like this.

If you don't see Siri & Search, you need to enable it... To do so.. follow these steps:

  1. Go Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions > Allowed Apps
  2. Turn ON Siri & Dictation

Once you have access to Siri & Search (SEE PHOTO ABOVE)

  1. Go to Siri & Search under settings.
  2. Turn off all the features you don't want on (Personally, I turned off everything)
  3. Go back to Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions > Allowed Apps
  4. Turn OFF Siri & Dictation

No More internet-based spotlight search!
