can't change password on apple mini from iMac

I'm signed in as apple ID. find my device, but don't get notification on my other apple devices to change the password on the device not signed into.

Mac mini, macOS 10.13

Changing Password Doesn't Work for all Devices I'm running BigSur, 11.7 on an iMac. I changed my password then forced sign out of all devices. I had to enter the new password into my iPad and iPhone ... and received notice from Apple that my "Apple ID information has been updated." I shutdown my iMac then turned it back on. I entered the new password, but my computer didn't accept it. The old password was still effective. I did this twice yet have been unable to change the password on my iMac. Any ideas on why the password will not update on my Mac? Thanks

How do I change my Apple I.D. password? I needed to give my password to an Apple tech and now need to change it. When I attempt to I'm given this message: "Because Stolen Device Protection is turned on, some of your account information can’t be changed on the web. To change your password, use your other Apple devices."
