I have a macbook and iphone, can I charge my iphone using macbook adapter till I buy a new adapter for my new iphone? Does it effect my iphone battery ?

I heard that using macbook adapter for charging Iphone will effect Iphone's battery, Can you please let me know if it's true and whether I shouldn't use macbook adapter till I buy a new adapter for my Iphone.
