CarPlay text issues since ios16 update

Hi, my CarPlay has updates and now I can’t text through CarPlay as normal. I can connect as normal, listen to podcasts, take and make calls. I can receive texts normally but I can’t then dictate texts in response to one’s I’ve received. It gives me a ‘working on it’ response, and then after approx 15 seconds says ‘something went wrong, please try again’. I’ve tried in and out of good mobile reception areas. I’ve followed trouble shooting online by rebooting my phone and disconnecting and re-connecting my Mazda. I don’t know if it’s a Mazda problem or a CarPlay problem.

I have this exact problem with Mercedes box vans which I think are 2019 models. Worked perfectly with ios15. One added detail I noticed is when the initial message is read it is not my chosen Siri voice, sounds female and more robotic if that helps. Working on it, something went wrong and try again later then come through in my selected Siri voice. These are my works vans and I can no longer make calls or send messages without parking up.
