Ok. My iPhone 14 pro max died but I was finally able to reboot. Up button quickly, then down button and then hold down the power button but it has to stay pressed for quite a while. This was the trick, ie hold down the power button down longer than you expect. But all good now.

I can confirm that this works. I woke this morning to find my iPhone 14 pro max dead. Quick press of the up volume button, followed by a quick press of the down volume button. Immediately followed by pressing and holding the power button until Apple logo appears. Seemed to take 30 seconds.

Thank you max score for not only saving me a trip to the Apple Store, it’s also my business phone. I have a small landscaping business and I’m dead in the water without my phone.

I can confirm this still works as of July 2023.

A quick press of the volume up button, followed by an immediate quick press of the volume down button. Then, quickly press and hold the lock button until the apple logo appears (may take a couple seconds or more). You can let go once the logo shows up and let the phone boot as per normal. Took me 3 tries of repeating this method to get it to finally boot up, so just be patient and keep trying.

Funny how this can happen to a $1.3k phone simply while leaving it to charge.

iphone 14 pro. happened to me too. woke up this morning and phone completely dead even though it's charged before i go to sleep.

google and end up in this thread, click volume up, down and then long press power button until apple emerge. but then it goes to black screen with charging cable ( white color) showing up ( cant screenshot because my phone is dead lol) not the same display when ur battery is dead ( red color) and top of that said about apple.com bla bla bla something about reload maybe? , cant remember, so i re-did the click vol up and down again, and long press power button again, and then it's back on, and of course my battery is 100% fully charged

got the notification for new OS 16.1.1 ? i just install it immediately

My iPhone 14 Pro Max died last night after four months usage. I did the same thing and it fixed the problem. Good to know someone tried more than 20 times. On my case, I did it for 12 times before power came back. Same fix: quickly push volumes up button, then volumes down button, after that immediately to hold power button to 10 to 30 seconds. When it works the Apple Logo would show up on screen. Don’t be frustrated and give up too soon. It seems it will work eventually.

My wife’s iPhone Pro Max had a black screen yesterday. I tried everything including pushing upper volume button then lower volume button then holding other side button down as described. Tried that two days with no joy.

Finally I tried the same process but would unplug power cord, wait 15 seconds, plug power cord back in, wait five seconds and repeat the button pressing process, on the 5th try the Apple logo came on. I think when you plug the power cord in it helps phone do a hard reset and turn the phone on. Work d for me after the first attempt did not work many times over two days. I think the problem arose from a defective firmware update Apple sent.

My iPhone 14 died but I was finally able to reboot. Here is what to do: Press volume Up button quickly, then press Down button quickly, and then press and hold down the power button but it has to stay pressed for quite a while, about a minute until the Apple logo appears on the screen. This was the trick, ie hold down the power button down longer than you expect. But all good now. Charge was at 100%.

When I woke up this morning, My Iphone promax 14 was dead. The charger was not charging (I have one of those light us cords so you can tell when it is charging - and the cord was NOT CHARGING when I found my phone dead. I unplugged the cord and it lit up, which tells me that my phone was not accepting any charge). I then did a reboot (quick up, quick down and hold the power). Phone restarted. Phone was 100% full. Then plugged in the charging cord and it continued to charge the phone. I have a hunch that the reason that the Iphone Promax 14 dies is that it was plugged in charging. even though it was in the open air on top of my dresser, At some point it overheated and the phone shut down to protect itself. Thoughts?
