Why isn’t the Weather app supported on my iPad Pro (11-inch) (3rd generation)?

Why isn’t the Weather app supported on my iPad Pro (11-inch) (3rd generation)? In the App Store there is a notice that reads “This app requires specific features not available on this device”. Can you be more specific? I am a Dark Sky user and not happy that it’s EOL at the end of the 2022.

Like the no native calculator app for iPad, there has never been a native weather app for iPad. Apple coukd never take the time needed to create a unique calculator or weather app for the iPad's larger screen and was really NEVER a priority for Apple, as witnessed by Apple's ever unchanging native calculator and weather app for iPhone.

Hence, a whole cottage industry of third party free, ad supported or paid calculator and weather apps for iPad, has sprouted and grown over all of these years.

This is all going to change, soon, this October.

As you may, or may not be aware, in 2020, Apple purchased the company/developers that made the Dark Sky weather app.

As such, Apple is using all of Dark Sky’s code and design and rolling it into a first-time native weather app for iPad, coming sometime, this October, with the introduction of iPadOS16.

Since Apple purchased Dark Sky weather to use an their own Apple weather, now, Apple is shutting down and discontinuing yhe Dark Sky weather app on Januarry 1st, 2023.

Apple is shutting down the DarkSky weather Website by March 2023 ( presumably once Apple establishes it own Web server based weather service linked to different weather tracking services )

DarkSky is ending. Nothing to be done, This is happening and the DarkSky app and Website will be dead.

Sorry, but it is what it is.

Everyone using DarkSky need to upgrade their iOS/iPadOS compatible devices to iPadOS 16, soon, to get use of the new Apple weather app, tha is going to permanently replace the DarkSky weather app and Website.

Those using DarkSky weather app on older iOS devices, or devices that cannot be upgraded, past iPadOS 15.7, will need to find other weather app alternatives from the iOS App Store.

Sorry.
