Error code 1004 during gift card number entry on iTunes.

Trying to check balance on gift card on iTunes. I receive "Error code 1004 please try again later", as if my typing will improve or the number will magically change "later". Anyone seen this?

Thank you, persistence paid off and the card number (after repeated attempts over time) finally was accepted, so the Error Code was a red herring of sorts. Thanks for your time.

If you see error 53, use these steps.

If you see one of the errors below, you may have a hardware issue:

1002, 1004, 1011, 1012, 1014, 1667, 1669

Here's what to check. Try again after each step:

If iTunes is already open, quit and reopen it.

Make sure your USB cable, computer and network are reliable. Then try twice more to restore your device.
Check for outdated or modified software.
