Turning off Find My Mac

I have a user account on my MacBook Air that is associated with an Apple ID that has been changed. I am trying to delete that user account. When I try to do that, I am asked to enter the password for the old Apple ID, because Find My Mac needs to be turned off. But I cannot do that because the old Apple ID has been changed. Any ideas how to fix this?

Yes, that is correct. What perplexed me is that it would not accept the new password. I did some more looking and discovered that the Find My Mac app in the account with the old user name seemed to be aware of two old inactive devices. I deleted those devices, and signed out of Apple this user account. After I did that, as an admin on my own account, it accepted the new Apple ID password, and I successfully deleted the user account from my computer.

Thanks you so much for working through this with me!
