New watch not connecting to iPhone. Message says pine and watch unable to sync apps such as mail and activity. To continue syncing data with your iPhone make sure your Apple Watch is on the latest version of watchOS

New apple watch SE not connecting to iPhone. Message says phone and watch unable to sync apps such as mail and activity. To continue syncing data with your iPhone make sure your Apple Watch is on the latest version of watchOS. This message flashes super fast and disappears

then starts unpairing

Is your phone running ios16 or newer?.

On the phone;

Settings/general/software update and scroll down to the bottom of the page to update to ios16.
