epson printer will not save scans to "documents"

Hello, I have an Epson WF-2760 printer scanner connected by ethernet to my MacBookPro.

Recently, it has not been able to save scans to the "documents" default location.

It saves ok to "desktop".

This has only begun to be a problem since I updated Catalina to 10.15.7.

Epson, perhaps not surprisingly, says it is an Apple problem.

Is there any workaround for this apart from drag-and-drop to the right folder?

Thanks.

This won't help except to let you know this seems to be an Apple "bug." In my Catalina update I had no such problem, but when I updated to Monterey, a similar problem to yours occurred. I could not save files created by my Epson Perfection V800 film scanner if I set the Epson display controls to save to my desktop--I always got an "unable to save files" message. If I let the Epson send files to its default location (a very hard to find location in my Mac), it would save them. I updated both Apple and Epson software and the problem persisted. And yes, I now have to drag the files out of the obscure area to get them to my desktop: not the end of the world but a pain nevertheless. My Safari also had problems showing maps from Google Maps for a while. Though I do it anyhow, I always cringe with fear and trepidation when updating systems. Good luck.

Hi Bob593251,

For help with scanning documents, check out the information below found in the guide here: Scan images or documents using your Mac - Apple Support

"In most cases, the scanned files are saved on your computer. To find out the exact location where the files are saved, or how to choose another location, see your scanner documentation. Also see your scanner documentation for information about how to save scanned files in specific file formats to send or transfer to others."

It also states you should be able to "Choose where to save the scanned items from the Scan To pop-up menu" in the steps from the same guide page.

You can also check and update your printer software with the help of the steps here: Update printer software on Mac - Apple Support

Keep us posted on the results.

Cheers.
