Macbook Air 2019 - front USB-C dead and SMS reset not helping

Hi,

The front USB-C port on my Macbook Air 2019 is dead (power and data), and a SMC or NVRAM/PRAM reset does not resolve the issue.

Mac Diagnostics does not show any issues and I cant see any visible debris in the dead USB-C port.

The other USB-C port (closest to the back) have kept working for two months without any issues, but Im concerned it will give up also leaving me with a Mac i cant power.

Does anyone know if a Macos reinstall could help?

Any thoughts on if a macbook repair shop is likely to be able to fix it by replacing the USB-C port, or if it will require a board replacement?

From what Ive read, a board replacement is so expensive that its better to buy a new Macbook

Some further details:

Both my USB-C ports started acting up a while back, one of them would stop working every few days, but a SMC-reset would bring it back. It was mainly the back USB-C that gave up, which I use the most that gave up, but happened to the front USB-C a couple of times also.

Some 7-8 weeks ago ago the back USB-C died for the last time, SMC reset would not bring it back. NVRAM/PRAM reset does not help either.

But the remaining front USB-C have been working since, without any need for SMC-resets and I use the macbook daily for several hours.

Thanks
