Is it possible for an apple tv to start on a particular app
I want to start the apple tv on a particular app namely eir tv
Any help would be appreciated

The Apple TV box would wake in the same app as was open and active (in front) as the state when it was put to sleep. For this, you should prefer method 1 or 2 of setting the box to sleep, as 3 navigates elsewhere away from the app.
There is currently no method to launch a specific app at startup. You can make suggestions about that to Apple.
You can of course move the app of your choice to the top-left position on the home screen, for easy access.
