"Share" is greyed out in Finder on Monterey 12.6

The "share" button in finder is greyed out an I cannot figure out why. I am still able to right click on a file and access the share menu that way but I am not able to actually click the share button at the top of finder to quickly share a file. I have dug through Preferences and cannot seem to figure out what the issue is.

There is a chance that the Finder preferences may have become corrupted.

You can see if that is the case:

In Finder, press Command-Shift-G and paste

~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.finder.plist

Drag the file out of the folder, and park it on the Desktop, for now.

Press Command-Option-Escape, select the Finder on the list, and click Relaunch.

Did you get the Share menu back? Fine. Drag that plist file from the Desktop to the trash.

If not, you can put the old preferences file back, if you want.
