That will depend on when it was brought. If it's been less than a year, it should be under warranty still.
Wether the issue itself is covered by warranty only an Apple Technician can tell you when they examine it.
If your actions caused it to overheat because it was left in hot car or used in a very hot environment it may not be covered and you would need to pay for the repair.
Since we don't know what happened, there's no way for anyone to tell you wether it will or will not be covered for a free repair.
