Since iOS 16 - Siri ending text message dictation with weird phrase

Since updating to iOS 16, when I am wearing my AirPods (both my first gen and newer 2nd gen) and I get a text message that ends in an emoji, Siri will dictate the text and describe the emoji as is typical but then she says "T N equals normal". This has also happened to my wife in her 2nd gen AirPods so it isn't just mine. It is only when the message ends in an emoji, but it happens every time this occurs. Again, only since updating to iOS 16.

Any ideas how I can fix this?

Hello airJxrdan,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. You also want to make sure that the Apple Watch is using the most current watchOS version. The steps to update are found in the Apple Support article: Update your Apple Watch - Apple Support

"Update your Apple Watch using your iPhone

When a new update is available, your Apple Watch notifies you. Tap Update Tonight in the notification, then go to your iPhone to confirm that you want to update overnight. At the end of the day, leave your Apple Watch and iPhone charging overnight so the update can complete.

To update manually, use these steps:

  1. On your iPhone, open the Apple Watch app, then tap the My Watch tab.
  2. Tap General > Software Update.
  3. Download the update. If asked for your iPhone passcode or Apple Watch passcode, enter it.
  4. Wait for the progress wheel to appear on your Apple Watch. It could take from several minutes to an hour for the update to complete.

Update directly on your Apple Watch

If your Apple Watch has watchOS 6 or later, you can install subsequent updates without your iPhone:

  1. Make sure that your watch is connected to Wi-Fi.
  2. On your watch, open the Settings app.
  3. Tap General > Software Update.
  4. Tap Install if a software update is available, then follow the onscreen instructions."

Let us know the outcome, and we can go from there if needed.

Have a great day!
