jpeg file previews in Finder are all square

I used to be able to view a folder with many images in Icon View and see the proportion of each image.

After updating to Mac OS Monterey 12.6 all jpg files now look square, and I have to open each one or use Gallery View to see the proportions of each image and know whether it's portrait or landscape.

Even more strangely, psd files still preview with their original proportions.

Is there any workaround to this or a way to switch back to the old way?

Before: macOS Big Sur 11.7 - Each image is viewed in its original proportions

After: macOS Monterey - All images are square, exept for the last one which is a psd

With Big Sur 11.7, or Monterey 12.6, the image dimensions are shown below the image, but you must click on the opened folder containing the images, press ⌘-J, and select Show Item Info to enable the dimensions information. As Apple introduces different Finder display styles between operating systems, you have no control over the rectangle presentation in Monterey.
