AirPods Pro disconnect from IPhone 12 during calls

Has anyone else had this problem as Apple support have never been able to resolve the issue or explain why?


I regularly find during calls the AirPods will disconnect from the phone (not terminate the call tho) so I constantly have to switch the call back to use AirPods rather than speakerphone or hold it to my ear.


Iphone 12 & AirPods Pro are both just over a year old, have both been through troubleshooting & tested by Apple, updates & factory resets done & AirPods have even been replaced but connectivity issues have been going on ever since I got them.

Is it a software or connectivity/signal issue or hardware as I don’t know anyone else who has this trouble? So fed up with it to the point I’m about to upgrade my phone & considering buying new AirPods.

Im having call disconnects on my AirPod pros that are replacements from the AirPod pro recall with my iPhone 12.

sad part is my original Airpods just sounded bad and didn’t disconnect. The new pairs had an echo then voices would become choppy and disconnect. 7-10 min into the call they would drop. Took them back and they were replaced again and now 20 min into a call they drop.

I'm in the same boat. Two replacements later, they STILL can't hang on to a call and will fall into an endless cycle of disconnection and reconnection that won't let any audio from the call through the airpods. Apple support is worthless so far, but I'm going full Karen to get a solution since I'm not the only one this is happening to.

Apple came to the conclusion it was my Apple Watch series 2 causing the call disconnect issue on my AirPod pros. Strange how I had no disconnect problems before the earbud replacement.

they also referred to my watch as vintage. Funny how it still works and looks good all original except band. I’ve had friend buy a watch because of how long it lasted.


The apple rep actually said I was in luck because he can upgrade my watch.

He meant sell me a watch.

They also tried to sell me airpods.

By the way the apple rep was very eager to blame my apple watch 2 instead of AirPod pros they issued. I’m pretty good at reading people and when you work over the phone you can hear when someone smiles in their voice inflection. They were smiling and relished the case Apple Watch 2 issues and completely removed their AirPod pros from the case at which point I had them reverse that and put the airpods back in.
