I bought this G|RAID with removable drives in 2015. Since then, it has worked flawlessly, until today. I keep getting the message that my external drives are unreadable by Time Machine.

You have already performed basic troubleshooting steps like.......
Ejecting the G-Raid drives and powering them off
Shutting down your Mac
Powering your Mac back up
Connecting the G-Raid drives again and powering them on again
Is this correct?
If yes, the next steps would be to run Disk Utility / First Aid on each of the G-Raid drives to correct any errors that might be present.
Finder > Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility
Select on of the drives displaying on the left panel of the window
Click on First Aid at the top of the window
Do the same for any other drives that are having difficulty

If Disk Utility is failing to repair the files, I don't have any other suggestions at this point other than erasing the drives and starting over again with new backups. I've had to do the same thing in the past when the "cannot read" disk error appears.
Perhaps another user will have some ideas as well.
Well--I backed up my most important stuff to DVD, took a deep breath and erased the drives. So far, starting over with a new backup seems to be working. Fingers crossed. Thanks, Bob!
Yes on first steps (several times). And trying to run First Aid fails (with a very lengthy report ending with 'The volume could not be verified completely. File System check exit code is 8. Restoring the original state found as unmounted. File system verify or repair failed. : -69845)'
