My Apple laptop doesn’t except my password

My Apple laptop froze up, so I had to shot it down. Now it doesn’t except my password, even though I KNOW it is the right one. What can I do?

Mac Laptop I recently brought a MacBook Air laptop, set it and had a password. The password worked for a few months then suddenly stopped, I changed the password so it also works on my iPad and iPhone but not on the MacBook. I want to reset the laptop and start again but following what people have suggested it’s not working. Can anyone help with this ?

Despite the fact you know your login credentials and are certain they are correct, If you forgot your Mac login password - Apple Support describes what to do, including options If you can't reset your Mac login password.
