using apple mail app, emails are now not fully opening until I click a button labeled "Load content Directly" in upper right hand corner of the email. what caused this to suddenly happen and how do I correct it?

In Mail Preferences, disable the checkboxes in the Privacy tab.
Your network settings do not allow Mail to protect you from malicious remote content.
VPN’s or Proxies will prevent it from working.

Go to Mail > Preferences > Viewing and check "Load remote content in messages".
