I can import photos post 2017 ok, but earlier photos fail with the error message which is the title of this question. There are thousands of photos all of which refuse to import, some were generated by a scanner, some are iPhone photos, some are DSLR photos and some are compact digital camera photos. I did a "Get Info" on one of them and I've attached the results. Needless to say all photos open fine in Preview, I just cannot import them into Photos. I have tried: New photo library Different user Repair photo library Boot into safe mode All the above in every combination But whatever I do Photos won't import the photo. Help!

Cannot export or edit photos Just got a new 2022 MacBook Pro M2 - running Venture 13.5 , photos Version 8.0 (560.0.110) My photo library is stored on an external hard drive On another Mac I can use that external hard drive and edit and export with no problems On the new Mac I keep getting an unknown error whenever I try to export or edit . So it can't be the external hard drive as it works on the 2020 MacBook Pro running Ventura 13.4 Photos Version 8.0 ( 551.0.140) What setting do I need to change to get it working ?

There were some old file formats that support for file types went away after Mojave.

You can use Apple app Compressor app to fix these files.

There is a knowledge base HT for this too.

I think iMovie has a compatible file format check too. It might convert non supported files to H.264 and save the old files in a folder too.
