I understand that Apple TV requires a different subscription, but why can’t I continue watching the shows until next April that I have paid for annually and then change my subscription?
I have one subscription paid annually purchased through Apple Music that doesn’t renew until Apple 2023, and now Apple TV is requiring me to get another payable monthly.
Right, and in that scenario you are using Acorn's app to subscribe as well as access the service, and just billing it through your Apple account. The prompt from Apple is telling you that if you want to use the service available through the Apple TV app then that requires a separate subscription, which is hosted directly by Apple.
So you can continue to use Acorn's app, as you have been, to access the service and when it comes time to renew you decide you'd rather switch to using Apple's app instead you can do so at that time.

If you wish to continue using your subscription with Acorn then you just need to use their app. The new subscription is only required to view content directly within the Apple TV app.
So I can just use the Acorn app and AirPlay from my devices until my subscription runs out in April. Then purchase from Apple.

Nothing has changed. If you are using the Apple version it would be available natively, if you are using the 3rd party apps then check settings to make sure they are still connected to the TV app.
No problem. If you are using an Apple TV device, another streaming device, or smart TV then in most cases there would be an Acorn app available directly so you would not need to use airplay. If you were going to resort to airplay and are not using an Apple TV device then just check that your other streaming device or TV supports airplay. I have supplied a list below

I purchased the annual Acorn subscription from iTunes.
I was able to watch Acorn and Britbox through the Watch Now feature of my Apple TV box until recently. What has changed with the Apple TV that no longer allows this?
I have not been able to figure out to check the settings to connect the two apps to apple tv. Can you tell me how to do that?
