MacBook Pro (2021 M1 Max) / Safari Version 16.0 (17614.1.25.9.10, 17614)
Started recently when zooming in and out; mouse becomes hyper sensitive and maps takes a second to render, see below. (Works smooth in Chrome)
By playing around, I managed to solve this by entering responsive design mode from the develop menu. After that, I returned to normal mode and everything with google maps was fine.
Go figure.
Thanks for all the advice.
Please update your Mac to macOS Ventura and see if the bug still there.

So maybe is a bug of safari (16) please wait Safari 16.1 (with macOS Ventura in October normally) and see if the bug still there.

It’s ok but to you follow this ? Can't view Google maps in Safari - Apple Community
Yes, everything up to date, no extensions, VPN off, no issue on other devices using same network.
Only option is one of these ->
Not sure which of these settings should be toggled.
Also some have been having using with experimental dev setting "WebGL via Metal" which I have turned off.
Google said to check with apple as this is a Safari issue.
Apple Maps works fine, issue is only with Safari.

In the meantime you can use Apple Maps or Google Maps with chrome 😉
