Camera Remote (Apple Watch Ultra) unusable on iPhone 14 Pro Max

Hi everyone.

I’ve been trying to use the Apple Watch ultra as a camera remote for my iPhone 14 pro max and realized that within seconds when I connect it, the camera feed blacks out and I can’t use the watch to monitor my phone.

I tried pairing the Watch with my iPhone 12 Pro Max instead, and the feed was completely smooth and there were no interruptions.

I’m unsure if anyone else has encountered the issue and if it can be resolved by just re-pairing the Watch - could someone else test this out and offer suggestions on how to fix the issue?

Thanks!

Hello davincicode,

Thank you for reaching out in Apple Support Communities. Our recommendation is to ensure that both the Apple Watch and the iPhone are updated to the latest version of watchOS 9.0.2 and iOS 16.0.3. This helps to provide software improvements on each device and may help. If needed, here's how to update your devices:

  1. Update your Apple Watch

2. Update your iPhone or iPad

Once that's completed, please test and see if you can use the Camera Remote on your Apple Watch.

Best regards.
