Recents folder

my recents folder never gets any smaller. So if I download something new and want to go to the recents folder to find it, I have to dig through thousands of files. If I clear this folder, are the files still stored where I saved them? Or does deleting it int the recent folder delete it altogether from the hd?

Hello!

The Recents folder displays a list of all the files you have in your home folder and iCloud Drive that are, by default, sorted by "Date Last Opened". If you delete a file from Recents, it will be moved to the Trash and deleted from your Mac.

To make sure your Recents folder is displaying correctly, since it sounds like it may not be, click "View" in the menu bar, then select "Sort By" > "Date Last Opened".

Hope this helps.
