Kurtosis got it right, that is an iPhone that was originally sold in China, Hong Kong or Macau, probably Hong Kong. Return it and get your money back. Or don't use an eSIM connection.

If you don't need to use an eSIM it will work for you. You will have to go to China, Hong Kong or Macau for hardware service.
