I am trying to get support from Apple but my only option is a call. I submit my number and am in the Queue. I then receive an email saying they are trying to reach me. How am I meant to proceed in this situation?
I've tried replying to the email I received but I go an auto response saying it wasn't monitored.
Why isn't there an option to instant message or email?

Must admit, have never experienced such a situation on my iPhone when travelling to SE Asia, South Asia, Orient, Europe .
But then again, on Cellphone Carrier Plan allows Roaming ( at a Cost ) to maintain my Number Abroad.
By suppling the Phone Number they will Call that number is due course

Did you silence unknown calls on your iPhone.
I know that. The problem is what happens when they cannot connect to that number. It is a dead end
Correct number = yes
Silence unknown calls = no
The Phone Number suppled by the user would be the number they ( Apple ) would call
Why would the user supply a Number that will not work ?
I am abroad and and there is an issue with receiving calls that I was unaware of, as I am able to still receive SMS.
How do you contact Apple when they are unable to call you?
