I replied to an email but the reply arrow did not show up.
Restarted MacMail and it's still not there.
Anyone know why this behaviour is erratic for the reply arrow icon?

It is appearing in 3 Apple Computer running Monterey 12.6 and 1 stuck on High Sierra . Refer to first image
If the Reply icon is missing - refer to second and third images and add it back

Start now and open an Apple Support Ticket as they are Apple Employees to deal will these types of issues .
2 - Product Feedback - Apple and make it known to Apple regarding this ongoing issue
Sorry I was not clear, it's these reply arrows that show you which emails you have replied to.
When you click on one of them, it brings up the reply that you have sent.
The behaviour is erratic. I can reply to an email and then the arrow does not appear at all, which makes my workflow very confusing as it looks like I have not attended to that email.
any email or one in particular?
Just the last email I sent, but this has happened before in the past.
The sent email is there in the Sent folder but the reply arrow icon is not.

Yes it's erratic. Sometimes (most times) the arrow is there. Sometimes it's not...
