Gmail / ios Mail status sync issue, 16.0.3

When I mark mail as read or unread in the ios Mail app, the change is not reflected in Gmail. This started with 16.0.3.

iPhone 14 Pro

Thank you for your help! The behavior was very consistent. Read/unread/flagged were not reflected in the Gmail web app. The other direction (Gmail -> iOS mail) was not an issue.

I just deleted my Google account from my iPhone and then added it back. That took care of the issue.

We'd like to see if we can help out. For clarification, you're saying that if you mark an email as read/unread in iOS Mail, you don't see that change when you sign into your account using a web browser. Is that right?

To narrow this down, try testing by marking some messages as either read or unread through Gmail in your browser. When you do that, does the change happen on the iOS device? Knowing that will help isolate this a bit.
