Contacts won't sync from iPhone to iPad

I have a new Phone 14 but cannot get the contacts to sync to my iPad. I have tried all the suggestions for enabling iCloud in Settings, but it still won't add the contacts from my phone to the iPad. Anything further I can do besides backing up?

iPad, iPadOS 15

Hi Joy4236,

To narrow this down, try signing into the iCloud website using a web browser on a computer, and check to see if all 267 contacts show up there: iCloud

If they don't appear on the iCloud website, the missing contacts are most likely attached to a third-party account, so you might need to add that account and turn on Contacts as shown here, depending on whether you use a Google account or a different type: Use other contact accounts on iPhone - Apple Support

"Use your Google contacts

  1. Go to Settings  > Contacts > Accounts, then tap Google.
  2. Sign in to your account, then turn on Contacts.

Add contacts from another account

  1. Go to Settings  > Contacts > Accounts, then tap Add Account
  2. Choose an account, sign in to it, then turn on Contacts."

Best wishes.

Hello Joy4236,

We understand that you need to sync contacts between your iPhone and iPad. Do you have everything set up according to Set up iCloud for Contacts on all your devices - Apple Support?

  1. On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, go to Settings > [your name] > iCloud.
  2. Do one of the following:
    • iOS 16: Tap Show All, then turn on Contacts.
    • iOS 15, iPadOS 15, or earlier: Turn on Contacts.

3. To view contacts stored in iCloud, open the Contacts app, then do one of the following:

    • If you have more than one source of contacts: Tap Groups. Below iCloud, select All Contacts or another group.
    • If you don’t have multiple contacts sources: All the contacts you see are stored in iCloud.

Additionally, per the above steps, do you see your contacts in iCloud itself? So we can see if it's syncing that far.

Thanks!

Thank you for your suggestions. I have tried them all but still am only getting 47 contacts on my IPad and not the 267 on my iPhone. Don’t know what else I can do except backup my iPhone contacts and then restore to the iPad. I’m very inexperienced with computers so hesitate to do this step in case I lose them all. Again, I appreciate your trying to help.
